Big Day of TEA

12.28.2019 Saturday

Today is a big day for TEA -
Taiwan Elite Alliance (優社)

Josephine has established this non-profit organization, 20 years ago. TEA recognizes the elites, and tries to pull the resource from our community to support the elites to achieve their goals.
Over the years, www.TaiwanEliteAlliance.blogspot.com has put up good efforts with our volunteers and sponsors for its commitment.
Today, we invite our good old friends from our “Hakka Toastmasters Meeting Group” together for the last meeting of 2019.  This should be a lot of fun!

(After the event...)

What a gathering with our “old” Hakka friends! We used to do Hakka toast master program every month... it stopped and we don’t get to see each other often any more! Now we have yearly gathering! Good Hakka food! And the smart and beautiful Mrs. Huang will be 100 next year! Most of our guests are in their 70s and 80s!!

客家好友的聚餐,笑聲連連!健康的黃老太太明年要一百歲了,頭腦清晰,山歌唱不停!

2011 LA客語講習會 (9/3-4/2011)

The Fifth Hakka Summer Camp in Los Angeles took place on 9/3 & 9/4 at the Los Angeles Culture Center, City of El Monte, California.  Our 128th (2011/August) Hakka Toastmasters Meeting was dedicated to this two days event.  Glad to see so many Hakka friends enjoyed very much together...Not only they study hard during the classes, also bunch-up to chat at the breaks.  These photos show them all!
Professor Ho and Wu are very popular and also the way of their approach seems working extremely well with majority of students.  I believe they got their jobs done and they earned their respects from our participants.
Salute to our volunteers team, they have devoted much time and efforts before, during and after the event.  There is only one thing bothered a few of us very much...The way this year's Registration seems to be way too loose. Apparently tried too hard to make it up for the headcounts... Anyone can easily observe that a great deal of people showed up simply for the "Foods" and "Gifts" !
This is not only a joke, irrespective to our instructors also the serious attendees, it also creates unnecessary wastes on the energy, especially an over-sized classroom with the light and air-conditioning., plus all the teaching materials, students ID to prepared.
We couldn't find the great tradition of "Ecological Practice" in our past four Hakka Summer Camps that we used to commit for "Reuse, Reduce and Recycle" practice and our Hakka friends were indeed very proud of it.
Other than that, during the hot summer time, we all have fun of learning our mother tongue and Hakka culture.

323 Hakka Gathering in Guan-Si, Hsin-Chu, Taiwan

Dear Hakka Taiwanese:
We have done this one...together!
60 plus friends met with passion, with love of our Hakka language, culture and our urgency of Taiwan identification.
It is an unforgetable experience.
For sure, there are plenty rooms for the improvement, especially it seems that most friends are not used to control time of speaking.  We believe this could be better with more practices. But the high spirit of our participation is unsurpassed!
Thanks to the host (Lou Family) for offering us a first class venue - TaiHon Tea Museum. Most of all, their strong supports in many respects, including a delicious lunch treat with fine tea service... they are just super !Their generosity is highly appreciated by all of us.
Thanks to Dr. Chiuto Chen and Mr. David Lai for Co-Chairing this Gathering. Good job!

Our 4 designated speakers are excellent.
Mr. CS Lou might have enlightened many Hakka elite to work on preserving their own home towns' History and Culture. Tai-Hon Tea Museum has set a perfect example for all.
Mr. Azen Yang did a great review of his campaign in 2009 Election, he has made a few key points in Political and Social movement within Taiwan. His long time dedication in Hakka's social movement enhanced with his stepping up to the political campaign.
Dr. Changchi Lee shared with all What is Hapa-Na, and What kind of activities had been done in the pat 20 years...plus his own visional thinking for What overseas Hakka Taiwanese can do in the near future.
Ah Kuen Goh, as usual, we all need such a talent in a big gathering. He showed his own observation about how Hakka express our exclamation with our mother tongue. He really knows how to get all audience to be interactive as a group.

Two of our good volunteers, Mr. John Huang and Ben Liu did a good reception desk. They showed up early to set up the reception desk and make sure that every one have name badge and keep a very complete information of the registration.

So excited to see many faces with expectation that Hakka can meet and exchange our onw viewpoints in a format of Toastmasters Meeting.  Boy oh boy, as a coordinator for this 323 Hakka Gathering, I found easily that we can have 60 speakers, one for each month...
Maybe, pretty soon, in different Hakka town, we all shall meet again.
