2015 L.A. River CleanUp

Another good day for the great event!


2015 Los Angeles River CleanUp is well done with our community friends on 4/25 (Saturday) at our assigned section - Lower Compton Creek.  Thanks to all volunteers.  Taiwan Elite Alliance (優社) appreciates all partners, TUF, 聖東台灣同鄉會 and again a very meaningful way to celebrate Taiwanese American Heritage Week (台美人傳統週) with our Great Los Angeles residents.

It is a bit scary as FWY 710 has construction and only one lane is open in the morning... so we thought our friends might be late for the event...but actually almost everyone shows up on time.  This is a super spirit that we have counted on all these years.

The site is kind of 'very clean' compared with last few years.  Less foam cups and boxes, but still too many plastic bags and snack pouches.  Our volunteers even picked up 3 shopping carts that were dumped in the river.

2.28-68th Commemorative Concert

Josephine and I, on behalf of Taiwan Elite Alliance (優社) volunteers, will like to share with you the videos of  2.28-68th Commemorative Concert.
 
We have tried to have our own composed Hakka songs to be included for all community audience, every program we try to have both Hanji and English subtitles for our audience, so no one will be missed out along the whole concert.  I bet you have enjoyed this one.

Hearty appreciation to our talented musicians, Half-Step Chorus, and our great volunteers. We are very grateful to our partner, the continuous support and sponsorship of TUF ( www.TUFUSA.org ). Another year's great production and the participation from our local community.

We hope the day, 真理 自由介 臺灣介心靈日 will finally arrive.

TAC-EC 2014 (美東台灣人夏令會) (7/4-6/2014)

 

Josephine and I were invited several times to participate this famous TA Summer Camp, yet ends up with schedule conflicts due to busy National Holiday weekend.  This year, with our good friend, Dr. Chanchi Lee's hard efforts long before our calendar set... So we come to East Stroudsburg, PA and to witness how the TAC-EC friends carry on this great tradition... and we are even more excited to see the TANG program works among next generations Taiwan Americans.

We have our Taiwan Tea Workshop on Saturday (7/5) afternoon., and we also get to perform on the stage - 渡台悲歌 during that evening's "Taiwan Night".

5/10/2014 係一年一擺   洛杉磯河清潔日-

Taiwan Elite Alliance 優社  協調社區參與、環保實踐，與全洛杉磯同步清潔洛杉磯河。這是一個當有意義  全家總動員  半日介戶外健身活動 (9am-12pm)。

洛杉磯是一個多元介大都會，佇這日，會有各個族群介朋友，分別認養一段洛杉磯河，大家合力同心，用雙手來維護恩社區介環境。希望鄉親儘量邀約親友，當日共襄盛舉  來參與這個當有意義介活動,  展現台美人介活力，也親身接近、認識與愛護恩介新家園。

我們選定介河段是 Lower Compton Creek (right next to 710 freeway, Del Almo Exit)。 當地介居民  多年來  肯定與歡迎  台美人介到訪。

1. 5/10上午九點開始到正午止。 請自行前往指定地點。

   九點  現場解說 與 分配區段後  立即展開清河。

2. 清河地點﹕Lower Compton Creek-- Del Amo Blvd. Exit

3. 穿著與隨身配備﹕建議穿著長袖、長褲、帽子、手套、球鞋、

    防曬油。

4. 路線﹕Freeway 710 往南, Del Amo Blvd. 出口後，向西到Del Amo

    Metro Blueline Station。

5. 停車: Metro Blue Line Station 停車場。

6. 報到﹕報到登記、領取紀念品、垃圾袋、摸彩券。

7. 成果展示： 11:30 am, 收隊集合，展現成果，照相留念，

   摸彩與使用點心。

2.28-67th Commemorative Concert

Thanks to TUF Board continue to support this annual event; thanks to our volunteers from Taiwan Elite Alliance; and great appreciation to the musicians, performers and Taiwan Center Choir.  Of course, the strong demanding and encouragements from our TA community in SoCal is the reason we produce this annual event.  On 2/28/2014, a stormy rainy Friday evening - we made it again together.

We believe the facts of 2.28 in Taiwan will be passed on generation by generation.  We just have to remember this incident and not allow the same mistake ever happens again.
